ABOUT THE INSTITUTION

Our Mission: To help each girl come into confident possession of her innate talents, improve the skills needed for success in secondary school and establish values that will allow her to act with thoughtfulness and humanity.

Our Vision: To support girls realize their dreams academically, talentwise and add value to their ability.

ClayCity Girls High School is registered as a Community Based Organization within the city of Nairobi Kenya. It is a rescue center for the vulnerable girls where we help orphans, homeless, poor, alienated and the hopeless realize their value in the society by providing them with quality education, food, and shelter irrespective of their status, race, tribe, or physical and mental ability.

The center was established in December 2013 by one Allan Okal, with only 2 girls who were orphans and homeless. After this, it has today grown to accommodate a total of 126 girls. The Center has stood the test of time to continue serving the vulnerable in the community with little help from few well-wishers.

Clay City Girls is built on a strong Christian foundation under Missionary Churches of  Kenya (MCK) basically for spiritual nourishment and growth, restore hope to the hopeless and bring up responsible and disciplined individuals in the society with zero tolerance to immorality and drug abuse.

SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT

The orphans and vulnerable children are increasing every day in our communities. We are familiar with what it means to be an orphan or a vulnerable child. How friends and families are torn apart and how through death, stigma and discrimination the social fabric of communities are destroyed. Clay City Girls High School is striving to better the lives of orphans and vulnerable children in the community. Most of the children in the facility are made up of children whose parents died living them with grandparents who are unable to take care of themselves talk less of the orphans. Some are a result of divorce where the father is irresponsible and the women are forced to take their children back to their families thus increasing the burden on her mother who is a widow and has no source of income. These orphans are usually malnourished, dropouts and start roaming the streets at tender ages because they don’t have anybody to directly assist them. As a result, some of the orphans get involved in prostitution and burglary to make a living.

Some of the young girls are forced in to early marriage which ends up breaking because they were not prepared for marriage. Clay City Girls High School has been supporting over 50 orphans by waving fees where necessary, seeking partnerships to help cater for their school fees, buy books, school bags and uniforms in order for them to acquire basic education. This is just a tenth of those who effectively need support. Therefore, the facility focuses on scaling up the support and has target orphans and vulnerable children. The institution faces difficulty in payment of teachers and other staffs who are all crucial for facilitating service delivery to help the girls achieve their dream is another one. It welcomes everyone willing to have a positive impact on the girls’ lives on board for long-term partnerships that would help eliminate this challenge.

NEEDS OF THE ORPHANS

The greatest needs of the orphans are as follows:

Feeding

Most families in Nairobi’s Kasarani and environs leave a subsistent life. Having to feed an extra mouth will be a burden to any families as most children barely have one meal a day to their satisfaction.

 Education

Quite often, orphans absorbed in to families are exploited to work for them and so few can be considered to go to school. Where this is not possible, they don’t go beyond primary school level. And those who manage to go to school are usually not equipped with books, uniforms and fees.

Shelter

The institution understands that some orphans have no place to call home. For this reason, it strives to offer shelter to as many girls as possible. The current capacity of the capacity of the facility needs upgrade and expansion to offer more space for more needy children and orphans in the community. The institution hopes to establish long-term partnerships to help with the same.

Objective

To provide education and nutritional assistance to over orphans and vulnerable children in in the neighboring areas.

 Activities

The activities intended to be carried out include: Pay fees, buy exercise and major text books and uniform for over Orphans and Vulnerable children in, secondary and vocational training schools.
